During spring/summer 2021, CDT Student Chloe Clear is undertaking a 5 month placement with Nu Quantum. The placement is co-funded by EPSRC and Nu Quantum, and its focus is to research the single photon source being developed at Nu Quantum, Hexagonal Boron Nitride (h-BN) [Palacios-Berraquero, C. et. al (2016). Nature Communications, 7, 1–6].
During her PhD, Chloe has studied how phonon-interactions affect quantum emission in other material systems, and Nu Quantum is interested in the application of this framework to the material system that they are commercialising. Additionally, Nu Quantum is eager to support the quantum workforce which will support their industry, and especially young scientists who are developing the skills and knowledge base around the emerging technology of single-photon sources.
